Ministry of Faith

Joy Fellowship is a ministry of faith, relying on God and His people to provide for our needs. Trio with bongo drumsHe has been wondrously faithful to us! We believe that God has given every person He created a gift that is necessary to the unity and well-being of the body of Christ. Some of our members may appear to be needing more than they can give. However, we have found time and time again that God Himself is revealed through the lives and actions of the weakest of our members. Since we see this so clearly in our fellowship, we make a sincere effort to find avenues for people to discover and express their gifts.

Those Who Seem Weaker are Indispensable

Verses from 1 Corinthians 12:12ff are central to our ministry: “...God has arranged the parts in the body, every one of them, just as He wanted them to be... The head cannot say toOpen Bible the feet, ‘I don’t need you!’ On the contrary, those parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable, and the parts of the body that we think are less honorable, we treat with special honor... If one part suffers, every part suffers with it. If one part is honored, every part rejoices with it. Now you are the Body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.”

Many helpers join us for our camps and special eventsWe try to see each person as a treasured gift that God has given as indispensable to the Body of Christ. Since we cannot live well without them, we strive to create space for each person to use his or her gifts for the building up of the Body of Christ. It is such a delight to see people serve and love each other in this way. We learn from, are built up by and are nurtured by each other, including those the world views as weak. This is seen so clearly in Joy Fellowship: the reality of how we each need each other to grow up into the fullness of Christ.

There are different kinds of gifts,
but the same Spirit.
There are different kinds of service,
but the same Lord.
There are different kinds of working,
but the same God works all of them
in men.

1 Corinthians 12:4-6
