People who have mental handicaps are usually overlooked when a church looks for people with gifts and talents, with a desire to serve, or even with a great need to know Jesus. We have been provided the opportunity to offer internships for those wishing to minister within the mentally challenged community. Anyone successfully completing an internship with Joy Fellowship will:

	be able to find and befriend people with disabilities in his or her community.
	be able to guide them to a place where they understand the basics of the Christian faith and can be introduced to Jesus.
	understand the physical, mental, and spiritual needs of people who have mental handicaps. The intern will have ideas about how these needs can and are being met.
	be able to work with a local church to welcome and include people who are mentally handicapped in all facets of church life.
	be able to facilitate Bible studies, church services, special services, and worship and prayer times for and with people who are mentally handicapped.

In short, the intern will have the resources or be able to find what he or she needs to know to minister to and with people who have mental handicaps. Contact us for more information.

We have different gifts,
according to the grace given us.
If a man’s gift is prophesying,
let him use it in proportion to his faith.
If it is serving, let him serve;
if it is teaching, let him teach;
if it is encouraging, let him encourage;
if it is contributing to the needs of others,
let him give generously;
if it is leadership, let him govern diligently;
if it is showing mercy,
let him do it cheerfully.
